Self-Reflection
Serenity Series (2017 - 2021)
A Letter to Myself Series (2022 - Ongoing)
Self-reflection has been a daily habit for me since the beginning of my art journey. Through this process, I channel stories, emotions, curiosity, and expressions into art, filtering them through a self-reflective lens. My Serenity Drawing Series, which I consider my first significant body of work, embodies this practice of transforming ideas into visual forms.
The initial inspiration for this series came from water, particularly ocean waves. I saw a resemblance between the rhythmic rise and fall of waves and the ebb and flow of life. Obstacles we face and strive to overcome were symbolized by rocks within the composition. As the series evolved, I drew further inspiration from air and trees, reflecting a shift in perspective and personal growth. This series marked the emergence of surrealistic elements in my work. The choice of black and white as the primary color palette symbolizes a narrow-minded viewpoint—a representation that continues to appear in my art to this day.
The A Letter to Myself series is like an art diary, expressed through abstract compositions with vivid colors. As my perspective evolved, this series began to embrace a more colorful palette, incorporating fundamental elements such as forms, dots, lines, shapes, and words. Complexity gave way to simplicity, and what was once entangled became untangled. Though uncertainty still lingers within me, this series reflects my ongoing journey of self-discovery.
